Elsenham Flower Show Society will celebrate its 37th Flower Show in 2024

Don’t forget, this is our village – our FLOWER SHOW SOCIETY

Every year, in May, we hold a Plant Sale to help raise funds to put on the Show in August.
As usual we have already begun sowing the seeds and taking cuttings for a large range of vegetable and flowering plants ready for the sale in May.
Please refer to our Elsenham Flower Show Society (EFSS) Facebook page for the latest information about the Plant Sale.

Please let us know if you would like any pots, or have small pots you don’t need, we can always use them.

Flower Show

Flower Show - Saturday 19 August in the Memorial Hall and Marquee on the Playing Field.

Click here to see or download the EFSS Flower Show Schedule & Rules 2023

If you look at the schedule, you will see the different classes there are to enter, ranging from flowers, vegetables, and fruit, as well as baking, produce, flower
arranging, handicraft and photography classes, including five different children's classes.
You don’t have to be a gardener to enter. Lots of you are photographers, many of you are bakers – both male and female, many of you are a whizz at handicraft and flower arranging. So, why not give it a go? It’s fun and easy to enter. If you start thinking now, you can be organised by August!

If you would like to compete in any of the Show Classes, you will find an entry form here in August
& in the August 2023 edition of Elsenham News.

It really is easy to enter. Just tick the class(es) you wish to enter and add up the appropriate fees (40p per class, up to a maximum
of £4 regardless of the number of entries).

Put your entry form in an envelope along with your fee and pop into our letterbox at Le Touquet, Station Road,
Elsenham CM22 6LG, before midnight on Sunday 13 August.

Again, give us a ring if you need any assistance or help with filling in the form.
Please do encourage your children to enter. There are five children’s classes and
these are free to enter. Children may also enter any of the adult classes of course,
though the 40p fee applies.

Exhibits for the show should be brought along to the Memorial Hall on show
morning between the hours of 9am and 10.45am. If you wish to enter any of the
produce, handicraft or photography classes but will be away at the time of the
show, again, just give us a ring and we will be happy to put your exhibit on display
for you. This also applies to any children wishing to enter, as we do realise that the
show is held during prime school holiday time. We do not want our village children
to miss out!
The Top Tray/Top Vase classes will be sponsored by the Flower Show Society,
with garden vouchers as prizes.

The show opens to the public at 3pm. with an Auction of Produce (beautiful vegetables, flowers, jams,

chutneys and even some cakes) and Prize Giving taking place at around 4.30pm.

Please do come along and support us!

Thanks to all our wonderful growers and supporters who provided so many plants last year, the proceeds from the Plant Sale went a long way towards the cost of putting on the Flower Show in August.

Please let us know if you would like any pots, or have small pots you don’t need, we can always use them.

ELSENHAM OPEN GARDENS 2022

SUNDAY 26th JUNE, 11.00 a.m.-5.00 p.m. (please note longer opening time)

  • A treat for all in the village is our long-awaited Open Gardens Day.
  • If you are relatively new to Elsenham, we hope this event will give you an opportunity to explore a bit more of our lovely village.
  • You will need to pick up a leaflet at any one of the gardens which are opening.
  • These will all be marked with a Yellow Sign “GARDEN OPEN TODAY”.
  • Due to the fact that we have a total of 12 gardens opening (in New Road, Station Road, De Mandeville Road, Park Road, Robin Hood Road, Gilbey Cottages, also Franklin Drive and Sant Close in Elsenham Vale), the gardens will now be open two hours longer than in previous years..
  • Teas will be served in Station Road in the front garden of Le Touquet and a toilet is available here as well, in case of need!
  • The price per adult is £3.00 (accompanied children, free) and you can pay at the first garden you visit.
  • The programme will give you entry to all gardens. It includes a map showing the location of the gardens which are open.
  • Look out for the YELLOW SIGNS along the way.
  •  We are sorry, but no dogs are allowed in the gardens.
  • Proceeds from the Open Gardens will help with staging our Flower Show, which takes place at the Memorial Hall on the Playing Field on Saturday 20th August.
