H&E scouts
Scouting has existed in our community in its current guise since 1957, and continues today as 1st Henham & Elsenham Scout Group with an enthusiastic and dedicated Leadership team providing Scouting opportunities to young people in our community.

Scouting exists to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.

Scouting is an inclusive and diverse movement open to boys and girls from age 6 and upwards.
Scouts are do-ers and give-it-a-go-ers, but we also get to hang out with our friends every week – having fun, playing games, working in a team and taking on new challenges.

Our meetings are held at Ugley Village Hall during term time, as well as camps, trips and other activities during school holidays.

           Beavers
We have a Beaver Colony for girls and boys aged 6-8.

We meet on Tuesday evening  in Ugley  Village Hall.

Beavers master new skills and try new things, have fun and go on adventures, make friends, are curious about the world around them, and help others and make a difference, on their own doorsteps and beyond.
Every week, we meet in our Colonies to hop, skip and jump their way through lots of different games and activities – achieving anything they set their minds to, and having lots of fun along the way.

            Cubs
Our Cub Pack is for girls and boys aged 8-10½ and we meet on Tuesday / Thursday evenings at Ugley  Village Hall.

For Cubs, excitement and adventure are key. The programme offers a wide variety of activities surrounding areas of fitness, global and beliefs; while allowing the Cubs to be creative and get involved in their local communities. Cubs are introduced to exciting outdoor skills and take part in adventurous activities, as well as camps and residential experiences.
Our recent activities include archery, fencing, orienteering, making campfires and camping, as well as indoor activities such as circus skills, pizza making, science experiments and playing drums.

Scouts
We have recently opened our first Scout Troop for girls and boys aged 10½-14, and we meet on Wednesday evenings at Ugley  Village Hall.

Scouts enables young people to build on the skills learnt at Beavers and Cubs, and to develop independence and responsibility in deciding on their activities and bringing them to fruition.

We have big plans for our new Section, already having taken part in hikes, and outdoor cooking, with future activities to include camping, swimming, abseiling, cycling and canoeing, plus charity work in our community.

Leadership
Our Group is ever-expanding, meeting the needs of young people in our growing community, and as such we need volunteers to join us in providing Scouting opportunities in our communities.

We have roles of all kinds to fit with the diverse skills and availability of adults in our community, supporting us in our activities, so please do consider volunteering some time with us by getting in touch with us at 1sthenhamandelsenham@gmail.com.
